Engineered to be eternally modular, The Renshaws’ is a contemporary art project re-imagined.  Our mission is to provide individualised opportunities and outcomes for the artists we work.  We offer an inner-city artist studio and living quarters, operating in conjunction with public programs, professional connections, collector studio visits and private events.  The Renshaws will also play host to live events, externally-curated exhibitions and work closely with other interstate and international art spaces for the purposes of artist support and touring exhibitions.  We also make available an island retreat for artists and curators to reflect upon their respective practices.

The Alexandria Gallery

Housed within a heritage Sydney factory building, The Renshaws' Alexandria space is a purpose-built gallery set within a precinct of other like-minded contemporary art spaces. Opening September 2026, the space extends our program into Sydney's inner-city arts community.

The Valley Studio & Residency

Situated in Fortitude Valley, The Renshaws’ valley residency consists of a one-bedroom apartment and 6m x 4m studio space.  The duration of the valley residency is for any period up to 2 months (at the discretion of the artist).  Applications are by invitation only.

Minjerribah Retreat

Minjerribah is located 30km east of Brisbane/Meanjin and is the 2nd largest sand island in the world.  Home to the indigenous Quandamooka people Minjerribah is also rich in flora and fauna including rare and endangered animals.  The residency is a two-bedroom shack and is available for periods up to 6 weeks.  Guests are encouraged to contribute a short piece of writing during their stay that will be included in an ongoing book project.  Applications are by invitation only.

The Renshaws are proud to represent artists Dane Mitchell, Karen Black, Edwina McLennan, Henry Turner, Ian Burns, Julie Fragar, Michael Georgetti, Narelle Desmond, Rebecca Diele, Susan Jacobs and Michael Zavros.

The Renshaws acknowledge the Turrbul, Jagara and Quandamooka people, the traditional custodians of the Brisbane and Moreton regions, and the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, the traditional custodians of the land in Sydney on which our Alexandria space stands, and recognise their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.
